revive

Again I resume the long
lesson: how small a thing
can be pleasing, how little
in this hard world it takes
to satisfy the mind
and bring it to its rest.

With the ongoing havoc
the woods this morning is
almost unnaturally still.
Through stalled air, unshadowed
light, a few leaves fall
of their own weight.

The sky
is gray. It begins in mist
almost at the ground
and rises forever. The trees
rise in silence almost
natural, but not quite,
almost eternal, but
not quite.

What more did I
think I wanted? Here is
what has always been.
Here is what will always
be. Even in me,
the Maker of all this
returns in rest, even
to the slightest of His works,
a yellow leaf slowly
falling, and is pleased.

Wendell Berry

. I am not sure of myself so much as how often my room is clean. I sing and live. I work hard. But I am still in transit, waiting for a place to sit down inside of myself. Settle in and drink a cup of tea. Trade glances with the ones you love. Know that you, for one moment in your life, are exactly where you should be. Then sing, sing again and loud. Let this moment surround us like air, and the thankful will approve. Yes, we have been given much. Much has also been taken away. For reasons some we will never find. Thankful and smiling in the mess that was made by living in love, in truth and weakness. So much that we find in each other branches of the same tree, just look at the veins in our hands. Humming now out of joy and in the presence of life. The living. giving way to closeness and gentle hands. Stop and breathe and feel the moving heart inside you friends. Merry Christmas

Salida...

Salida listed in America's top 10 outdoor towns at MSN City Guides!!! Check it out.

Even though the article doesn't mention it I'm sure the primary reason Salida made the list is because of our good friend Jon Fritz, his legs, and of course Simple Lodge.

Other notable towns that made the list, Livingston, MT and Ely, MN.

Today is a big day

Yo. Miss you all. Today is National Recycling Day! I think that is good. Did you know that before 1920, 70% of american cities had a recycling program? It dropped for a while after WWII. Now it is building back up, but I don't know the specifics. I do know that 10,000 cities have curbside recycling. However, composting is a lost practice that is gaining steam again. Hooray!

This is a picture of me supposed to be dressed like a woman who has slept over at a man's house and then in the morning has nothing to wear except the man's dress shirt...like in the movies. I'm not confused about my sexuality.

Urban Sun Club

Hey there kittens, we had a good time this a.m. along the river watching the sun come up and drinking a bit of coffee. Thought you'd like to see a pic or two.

On an unrelated topic, can 50 million people be wrong?...resist popular thought if it is not for a good cause...
